Why My Pet Photography Prices Are Lower Than Many Others
Why My Pet Photography Prices Are Lower Than Many Others
This is something I think about a lot, and it is something clients quietly notice too.
If you have looked around at professional pet photographers, you have probably seen prices that feel… high. Sometimes really high.
So let me be very clear.
My prices are not an accident. They are a choice.
I Did Not Grow Up With Spare Money
I did not grow up in a family where professional photos were just something you regularly did. My family have memories from exactly 2 photo shoots in my childhood. In the 80's. No, you cannot see my fabulous outfits 😂
Money was always something that had to be worked for. Hard. If I wanted something extra, I saved, went without other things, and figured it out.
That did not magically change when I became an adult. I had plenty of low-paying jobs. I have always worked my butt off for the things I wanted. I still think carefully about wants versus needs.
So when I built this business, I did it with people like that in mind.
Regular people. Normal incomes. Dog lovers who adore their pets but are not sitting on piles of spare cash.
I Price for the 99%, not the 1%
Most families are juggling mortgages or rent, groceries, fuel, school costs, vet bills and everything else life throws at them.
I know that life. I live that life.
So my pricing is built to be reachable for people on all levels of income, not just the top end.
That Does Not Mean I Am “Cheap”
Lower than some does not mean low quality.
I am still fully professional. Insured. Experienced. Using professional gear. Spending hours editing. Running a legitimate business with real expenses, tax and ongoing education.
The difference is in the business model.
Some photographers focus heavily on high-end wall art and luxury products with very high price tags. That works beautifully for those businesses and their clients.
I have chosen to focus on making beautiful digital images more accessible, so more people can actually walk away with photos of their pets instead of feeling like it is out of reach.
More Dogs, More Often, For More People
I would rather photograph more dogs from a wider range of households than only work with a small number of high-spending clients.
I want the couple in a rental with their first rescue dog to feel like this is possible.
I want the family with three kids and a chaotic schedule to be able to say, “Yes, we can do this.”
I want older dog owners, who know time is precious, to not feel priced out of having proper photos of their best mate.
That matters to me.
It Is Still a Want, Not a Need
Let us be honest. Professional pet photography is still a luxury in the sense that it is not essential like food or bills.
I will never pretend it is something everyone must do.
But I have built my pricing so that when someone really wants this, when they love their dog and want to capture this stage of life, it feels achievable with some planning, not impossible.
Why This Feels Personal to Me
Because I know what it is like to want something meaningful and have to work out how to make it happen.
I know what it is like to weigh up where money goes and choose the things that truly matter.
For a lot of us, our dogs are not just pets. They are family, comfort, routine, and love rolled into one furry body.
Helping everyday people have beautiful photos of that relationship is not just a business decision for me.
It is personal.
The Bottom Line
Yes, there are photographers who charge more than I do. And many of them are incredibly talented and worth every cent for the clients they serve.
I have simply chosen a different path.
One that keeps things professional, high quality and sustainable for me… while still being realistic and reachable for regular, dog-loving humans.
If that sounds like you, you are exactly who I built this for.
